During our conversations with James River Day School, one thing became clear: they wanted their brand to feel rooted in tradition yet warm and approachable. In private education, there’s often a sense of exclusivity, but JRDS strives to be inclusive—a place where every family feels welcome. We combined classic educational elements like serif typefaces and heritage-inspired motifs with friendly, modern touches to create a brand that feels both established and inviting. The result is a visual identity that honors the school’s rich history while reflecting its open and joyful community.

With that in mind, we designed the James River Day School brand to be modular and flexible. The cohesive suite of assets includes a primary logo, an icon, and a wordmark, as well as standalone initials for smaller uses.
